How is the Vaccine Rollout Going in Your County?
The COVID-19 vaccination program underway in all 21 New Jersey counties. We wanted to take a look at how each county is moving along with their program. In New Jersey, all residents ages 65 and older, essential healthcare workers and those at high-risk are now able to get the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.
The state’s vaccine program is only available to people living, working or studying in the state of New Jersey.
Both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines require two doses to be most effective against Covid-19.
In addition to the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, Johnson & Johnson (J&J) is looking for approval of its COVID-19 vaccine. The J&J vaccine will need only 1 dose to be affective. In addition, it does not need to be stored at as lower a temperature as the other two vaccines.
Moving forward, the White House has shared its plan for providing more vaccine access at local pharmacies. Pharmacies like CVS and Walgreens are already providing vaccines at long term care facilities throughout the state.
Governor Murphy hopes to have 4.7 million adults in New Jersey vaccinated by the end of summer 2021. This means the Governor is hoping to complete this goal within 6 months. In order to reach this goal, we would need to have 70 percent of the adult population of New Jersey vaccinated.
Please note, the vaccines are available at no charge to persons 16 years and older. You do not need health insurance to get the vaccine.
The progress of the program has picked up pace since the first vaccine was given in mid-December of 2019. Read: 1 Million COVID-19 Vaccines have been administered in New Jersey As of February 9th, 2021 at 9:30 AM, a total of 1,085,595 vaccine doses have been administered in New Jersey.
As result of the changes this pandemic is having on the United States and world, the state’s plan is frequently updated to reflect the changes.
