1-month-old boy in Atlantic County tests positive for coronavirus
According to media reports, a 1-month-old boy in Atlantic County tested positive for coronavirus. The child is the youngest of the 148,000 children in the state infected with COVID-19. Reports have not provided the city in which the Atlantic County infant resides.
The first child in New Jersey to have been killed by the virus is a 4 year-old child who died earlier this month. The child had underlying conditions that have yet to be revealed but it was confirmed the child’s undisclosed condition complicated the situation and was a contributing factor to their death.
During Tuesday’s daily news briefing, Judy Persichilli, State Health Commissioner, did not mention the youngest positive COVID-19 patient, but confirmed New Jersey currently has 9 positive cases of coronavirus in children 3-18, with pulmonary inflammatory syndrome. Of the 9 children, 3 children remain hospitalized.
Persichili also confirmed the death of a 22 year old but did not disclose information regarding underlying conditions.
